Rising Seas will engage audiences with the impact of rising seas in a series of performances of live music, immersive dance, site-responsive theater and an art exhibit that raise climate awareness and un-earth solutions for sustainability and resiliency.
Bay Area ensembles highlighting traditions from island cultures around the world will share global perspectives about the effects of climate change through performances of music and dance. Site-specific stories will shed light on the past, present and future of Alameda’s waterfront. Where do we draw the line? choreographed by KT Nelson (co-artistic director of ODC/Dance 1976-2020) moves to a soundscape that interweaves the voices of Alameda residents and sustainability leaders, sharing their thoughts on the joys and concerns of living on an island amid a climate crisis.
Rhythmix is excited to be collaborating with the City of Alameda’s Sustainability and Resilience team and local climate adaptation organizations including CASA (Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda), dedicated to raising awareness and mobilizing community to achieve Alameda’s Climate Action and Resiliency Plan.
The Rising Seas project will also present a series of interviews with Bay Area Climate Leaders and local residents.
The first interview features the City of Alameda’s Sustainability and Resilience Manager, Danielle Meiler. Part of her message to the community can be heard here:
